Thank you for visiting this page. In case we have not met personally, my name is Billie Willmon Jenkin.  I am a retired educator, an author, and a speaker-presenter.

I'm also a mom with two grown sons. PFLAG is an organization* that I wish I had known about when I first learned that one of my sons was gay, when my heart ached - both for myself and for him.

Far from being some "militant" group, PFLAG is about love and support; about keeping families together; about correcting myths and stereotyping surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity; and about creating accepting environments for all individuals as we all learn to celebrate individuality in each other - and in ourselves.

*PFLAG is a non-profit organization (The letters stand for "Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.") It is an organization that supports LGBT individuals and their families.

Resources from PFLAG :

Safe Schools: Cultivating Respect: PFLAG Houston has created seminars to ”train the trainer” in teaching all students respect for others. The seminar is designed to bring awareness of various forms that bullying and harassment take in today's schools and to empower educators to cultivate respect for everyone in their schools. (See the presentation to the right for issues covered.)
