 Information from Empowering For Change

“Seven Steps to Self-Acceptance”: a series of e-letters to guide teens and adults in developing the psychologically crucial (and often elusive) characteristic of self-acceptance/ self-worth. (Modern psychology recognizes that an over-abundance of self-esteem  [a “prince” or “princess”  syndrome] is dangerous. Instead, indications are that we should cultivate self-worth or self-acceptance.)  Enroll  here  --->

Presentations to Classrooms
Contact retired all-level educator and best-selling author, Billie Willmon Jenkin, to speak to student groups about such topics as
  • Believing in YOUR Dreams
  • "Writing is Alright!"
  • "Between the Lines" (Reading more than the words)
  • Expect Respect
  • Standing Up for Rights ("Bullying" rarely happens in a vacuum: Not only to Bullies and Bullied need to be educated, but so do the Bystanders who remain silent).
    • For grades 4 - 6, aspects of The Knock-Kneed Cowboy are included

Self-acceptance opens the door to positive change.

The Knock-Kneed Cowboy: A Tale of Being “Just Right”... Just As We Are

is a tale of a cowboy who wants to be bow-legged like his peers and of a “too-tall” pre-teen girl who is teased about her height. More than a “feel-good” story.

Find information for schools (including classroom sets) at http://Knock-KneedCowboy.com On that site is a page for educators, along with downloads and ideas for the classroom setting. (Reading level approximately fifth-grade; MANY enrichment/ higher-order thinking skills are woven into the tale.)
